On Family

It has been a rather tumultuous summer for myself and my family...for the last two months my mom has been very ill, so ill that I had to fly to Saskatchewan to help my Dad with her care.

It can be so hard to watch your parents as they age...the difficulties that aging can bring to their lives...the changes that can so unexpectedly happen.

In a lot of ways these past two months have enlightened me and taught me many things. It has been a time of growth for me, an experience that has shown me the power of compassion, love and commitment.

How when bad things happen a family can pull together and be strong and unbreakable...how when one member feels like giving up, another member will step in to lend a shoulder for crying, a heart for loving, and a will to help you carry on.

The battle isn't over but a least we have each other...and no one will ever be left alone.

Treasure your family...as it is the only one you will ever have!

  1. How right you are - Treasure your family! My Dad fell 2 months ago and broke his hip. We just got him home from rehab - but this family journey is far from over - he is 89. I am so glad I have siblings and Mom to help him and us. You said it well - At least we have each other and no one will ever be left alone. Thanks!

  6. Love you Susie-Q. These words brought tears to your big brother's eyes. I cherish the memories of all of us being at the cabin sitting around the camp fire, not a worry in mind.

  9. Piling on with more support and loving vibes to offer (still working with the lessons and legacy of caring for my Dad in his last year, this past year) - Time does seem to become something of an altered state when that stage is upon us - no matter which is our particular role in it! May you and yours easily find all the strength you need as you go along - and your minutes and hours filled with blessings! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying your fans are here to support you and will be delighted to see updates as you can get to them - and walk with you as your path shows what ever next steps are to come! (((sending hugs)))))) All the best - more later - Jan
